ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Dean Charron, who was born in Springfield, Massachusetts in
1955, began his writing career in 1988 when he founded a
business that developed employment policies and procedures
for small- to medium⌐size companies. During a two-year
period, Dean, a certified legal assistant, developed policy
manuals for over 25 employers, including companies such as
ComputerLand and PIP.
Also, in conjunction with his business, Dean did extensive
legal research while writing two books on employment law:
"The Employer's Guide to State and Federal Employment Laws"
and "Avoiding Employee Lawsuits."
In 1990, when his company succumbed to the failing local
economy, Dean was introduced to the dark side of consumer
affairs. Finding himself in the throws of financial
disaster, was forced to research new legal subjects:
financial crisis management and bankruptcy.
Now, Dean regularly helps financially troubled consumers
deal with creditors through debt restructuring programs.
This real world experience helped him write three
consumer-related publications. In 1990, he wrote "The
Attorney's Bankruptcy Guide; in 1991, he wrote The Financial
Problem Solver, a 105-page guide to consumer-related issues.
While writing "The Financial Problem Solver," Dean realized
that consumers lacked ready access to understandable
information about credit cards. So, in 1992, hoping to
fulfill this need, he wrote "Credit Card Smarts," a 70-page
guide to credit card ownership.
In his spare time Dean enjoys flying, golf and hiking. Mr.
Charron lives in Granville, Massachusetts with his wife
Paula.
